Laughlin, NV—The 3rd running of the Method Race Wheels Laughlin Desert Classic was a slightly different affair from last year. Instead of a late Spring event, this year’s Desert Classic was run over the October 13-14 weekend. Though like the two previous, BITD kept the two-day Desert Classic format intact. Teams race four laps on a quick seventeen mile course in separate races on Saturday and Sunday. A combined time over two days determines the winner of each class. The short course makes the Desert Classic an all out sprint. A small mistake can quickly erase a spot on the podium. Drivers are well aware of this as the course takes a beating with each lap. Multiple races are run each day of the Classic including UTV night races making it a great race for spectators.

The action started fast and furious on Day 1. Pat Dean in Albins AGB-equipped car 1575 blazed the fastest lap of the day on his way to finish at the top of Class 1500 at the end of the first leg. Not far behind Dean, the 1587 team of Bill Wingerning and Roger Starkey, Jr. finished second in another AGB-equipped vehicle. On Day 2, consistency paid off for the Wingerning/Starkey team. The second place finish gave Wingerning his first ever BITD Class 1500 win. Baldi Brothers Racing in AGB-equipped 1542 had solid results over the weekend finishing third on Day 1 and second on Day 2. 

AGBs were helping win races in Class 5 as well. Travis Chase of Chase Motorsports found his way on the podium both days to take the Class 5 Desert Classic win AGB10-equipped car 5095 . With one event left in the 2018 BITD season, we’re looking forward to an exciting finish.
