Erda, UT — After being recruited by Racer’s Edge Motorsports owner Jon Mirachi, young Texan Harry Gottsacker was ready to tackle the full Pirelli World Challenge SprintX GTS season in 2018. Mirachi spotted the 19 year old San Antonio native’s driving skills in 2015 and 2016 during the partial PWC season races which Gottsacker competed. In 2017 Gottsacker was tapped to pilot the number 69 Albins ST6-M equipped SIN R1 GT4 in the Pirelli World Challenge SprintX GTS Class. Grand Touring Sport (GTS) class cars are production based vehicles closer to stock and racing at slightly slower speeds than their GT counterparts.

Gottsacker got his first taste of SprintX victory in July at the Rose Cup Races at Portland International Raceway. After being edged out of his first win on Saturday’s Race 1, hard work and a bit of luck paid off in Sunday’s Race 2. Gottsacker had earned the pole for Sunday’s race by virtue of the fastest lap in Race 1. After losing the lead, Gottsacker managed to power his way back to the front with help from some quick work by his pit crew, Gottsacker finished the race a full 8.775 seconds ahead of the 2ND place car. It was a huge win for Gottsacker, not only his first of the PWC season but a career first as well. 

Gottsacker and the 69 SIN R1 GT4 finished the season strong with another win at the PWC finale in Utah. For Gottsacker and the Racer’s Edge team, 2018 was a season of huge strides in the Pirelli World Challenge SprintX GTS. We're excited to see what next season will bring.
