Henderson, Nevada — The final race of the BITD season went off amongst heavy winds, sleet and frigid temps. It was no easy task for any of the teams that showed up to claim the double points at stake.
In Thursday qualifying, Class 1500 driver Justin Lofton took the top spot, ahead of Trick Truck drivers Jason Voss, and Rob MacCachren. Class 1500 racers CJ Hutchins and Harley Letner qualified 4th and 5th respectively while Jon Walker, whose Class 1500 car features an Albins AGB Series gearbox, qualified 20th.
At the drop of the flag on Saturday, Justin Lofton set out to break away, but Rob MacCachren stayed close behind. Unfortunately, the second lap saw bad luck for Lofton who developed mechanical troubles. Even so, Lofton and Rob Mac battled it out for the lead but in the end, Rob MacCachren took the overall victory and the Trick Truck win. Justin Lofton held on for second overall and the class 1500 win with a time of 3 hours 51 seconds and 25 seconds. It was not enough to keep Jon Walker off the title. Walker finished 6th overall and second in class 1500 to clinch the 2013 BITD Class 1500 title by mere two points. Sam Berri came in third in Class 1500, followed by Ray Griffith and Levi Rockhill.
The Henderson 250 concluded the 2013 Best in the Desert racing season. A big congrats to all the finishers of this year's race and best of luck in 2014 season.
