Messer and Parkhouse Win at BITD Laughlin

Laughlin, Nevada — The 2016 Method Race Wheels Laughlin Desert Classic was a new addition to the regular BITD schedule. The format was slightly different from other BITD races. Classes were separated into different heats that ran a short 17 mile course over two days. Drivers raced four quick laps each day for a combined time. The short course makes the Desert Classic an all out sprint. A single flat or mechanical failure will quickly erase your spot on the podium.

The excitement wasn’t restricted to the big guns. Class 2400, 1000 and 7200 cars in Race 3 started off the line at 10am on Saturday. Troy Messer in Weddle Racing Gears-equipped truck 7247 finished on top of the pack to win Race 3 and Class 7200 with a combined time of 2:22:18. Jared Teague in Mendeola LQ-equipped car 1047 finished just under 3 minutes after Messer to take third in the race and first in Class 10.

Race 4 featured the Class 1500 big guns which ran separately from the Trick Trucks in Race 5. Parkhouse battled to the top of the pack to finish first on Saturday. Parkhouse led Sunday’s race from the start and hung on to win Class 1500 with a time of 2:12:28, nearly 2 full minutes ahead of the second place car.
