Morgan Hill, CA — 2025 saw Matt Field and the Word's First Manual C8 Corvette Drift Car on the road blazing trails across the US. Since the Weddle S5-equipped C8's unveiling at SEMA 2024, Field has been lighting up the asphalt coast to coast testing and showcasing his new build along the 2025 Formula Drift tour and other events throughout the year.

From its initial tests at the Thunderhill Raceway in Northern California, Matt Field's C8 has been terrorizing roads and raceways from New Jersey to Drift Appalachia in Kentucky to Long Beach, California.

The C8 Corvette build was a miracle makeover. Matt and the Drift Cave team in Morgan Hill, CA overcame endless challenges to transform a water-logged salvage C8 into a technically top notch C8 Corvette Drift Car.

For the build, Matt required a gearbox that could withstand LS power, 1000 hp clutch kicks and handbrake dumps at 7500 rpm. Enter the versatile Weddle S5, a sequential powerhouse that can be run mid-engine and inverted, making it a perfect solution for the C8 build.
