Product development is a continuous process at Weddle Industries. Our design team is constantly searching for ways to make things stronger, function better or easier to install.
Washington, MI — This GM Sierra holds a very special place in John Owens' heart. The 40 Grit Design proprietor bought it new in 1998 and drove it his senior year of high school. Over the years, John's Sierra evolved. After reaching the limit of the original chassis' potential, Owens imagined a full custom chassis with a mid-engine configuration.
To handle the LS7 horsepower, the Sweet n' Low is equipped with a Weddle S5 Transaxle configured in an inverted position. During the Sweet n' Lows conception, Owen's was hoping to add a sequential trans but struggled to find one in reach of his budget. By scouring the internet, Owens discovered the S5. He was keen on the many refinements Weddle Industries has added to the original S5 design and felt assured it could withstand any abuse he might throw at it.

The Sweet n' Low in present form is Owens' fully realized vision of what his beloved '98 Sierra could be. Along with the custom tube chassis, crate LS7 and Weddle S5, the Sweet n' Low features fiberglass widebody front end and rear end, a modified cab, Corvette C6 suspension, as well as many other customizations that you can check for yourself.
