The 53rd SCORE Baja 1000

Baja 1000 Cody Parkhouse Class 1 Champ

Ensenada, B.C., Mexico — After delays of the Baja 500, the question loomed if desert racing's most iconic events were gong to see the light of day in 2020. Lucky for us, the hard work of SCORE International and all the race teams involved delivered the 53rd Baja 1000.

This year's event featured the longest ever Baja 1000 loop. With the traditional start/stop in Ensenada, this year's course took racers on a counter clockwise 898.4 mile loop. First down the Pacific edge of the Baja peninsula, racers headed back up to San Quintin, then east to the Sea of Cortez before racing north to the finish. True to Baja's demanding reputation, this year's course took its toll on the pack. Of the 185 registered teams that started the race, only 99 made it across the finish line.

Weddle-equipped teams conquer Baja. Despite all the challenges, Weddle-equipped teams managed to finish the 2020 SCORE season on top. 1945 Francisco Arredondo commanded his Honda Talon with Weddle UTV Race Prepped front and rear diffs to Pro UTV first place. Eli Yee took the Class 1/2-1600 win in Weddle-equipped 1616. In Class 1, Baja veteran Cody Parkhouse and his team piloted Albins AGB-equipped vehicle 127 to the top of the podium. The grit of all the racers and organizers this year showed that no matter what 2020 might throw at them, they can't be kept down.
