A Weekend of Thrills at Laughlin

Laughlin, NV—The second running of the Method Race Wheels Laughlin Desert Classic proved once again to be a thrill for spectators and drivers alike. The format is slightly different from other BITD races. Five separate races a day on two separate days. Each race is four laps on a quick seventeen mile course that includes the crowd pleasing “Laughlin Leap” on each lap.

Drivers race for a combined time over two days. The short course makes the Desert Classic an all out sprint. A single failure can quickly erase your spot on the podium. Drivers are well aware of this as the course takes a beating with each lap.

Race 3 was exciting to watch as Class 1500, 6200, and 1000 battled it out. On Day 1, top qualifier Pat Dean in Albins AGB-equipped car 1575 held the physical lead all day. At the finish, it was Dean over the line first with Harley Letner close behind. After corrected time, Letner edged out Dean by a mere 22 seconds. The battle in Class 1000 was even tighter. #1068 Blade Hildebrand edged out #1074 Brock Heger by a mere five seconds.

There were thrills and upsets Day 2 in Class 1500. Pat Dean had some bad luck and fell back during the third lap. Letner ended up taking the win. Terry Householder finished strong to take second place in class driving Albins AGB-equipped car 1539. Pat Dean grabbed a respectable 4th place in Class 1500.

The excitement continued in Class 1000 as Weddle equipped cars once again dominated the top five. Brock Heger took first in class in his Mendeola LQ equipped car 1074. Brock continues to kill it this season. After Parker and the Mint, Heger made it three straight wins in Laughlin. Troy Messer grabbed the 2nd spot on the podium in car 1087 running Weddle gears. Christian Fessler took third in Albins AGB-equipped car 1003 and Jared Teague took 4th in Mendeola S5 equipped car 1047.

Race 2 produced some great results in Class 2400 as well. Mike Avila took the overall win in Mendeola MD5-equipped 2428 with Tim Carolan finishing second in Mendeola MD5-equipped car 2406.

The second Method Race Wheels Laughlin Desert Classic was another great event by the BITD crew. We are looking forward to Vegas to Reno.
