2025 Botswana Champs Look Ahead to a New Season

Daytona Motorsports finds the winning formula with the Albins AGB

Gaborone, BOTSWANA—While the original Dakar Rally put Senegal on the off-road map, the thrill of off-road racing can be felt in the far reaches of the massive African continent. The Botswana Off Road Racing Championship (BORRC) keeps off-road racing alive and well in the massive expanses of the Kalahari Desert.  In 2025, Daytona Motorsports, an Albins AGB-equipped team, found themselves on top of the  Season Championship podium.

Racing in the Kalahari Desert presents teams with its own unique challenges. Along with the brutal terrain that comes standard with off-road racing, the Kalahari can present extreme storms and near-zero visibility.

The Winning Formula. Despite all of the challenges presented by the Kalahari Desert, the Daytona Motorsports team and their Albins AGB-equipped A31 Bat Viper were able to pull it together throughout the BORRC season  to earn the 2025 BORRC Class A Championship and the Special Vehicle Championship.

The Albins AGB difference. "From the very beginning of my racing career, Albins has always been a key part of the winning formula." explains  Daytona Motorsport Botswana owner/driver Khalil Hussain. The Daytona team has a history with the performance and reliability of Albins AGB transaxles. The first Daytona Motorsports Aceco Gen 2 was equipped with a 5-speed Albins AGB dog box. The 2025 championship-winning Bat Viper features the 6-speed sequential Albins AGB. The current setup has successfully completed multiple events, ranging from intense 200 km sprints to a multi-day 1000 km marathon. "The most critical feature for me is the ability to perform flawlessly across all terrains and stages." Hussain adds.

"Whether we are navigating extreme tight technical sections or running flat-out at over 200 km/h across open plains, the Albins AGB performs like an absolute dream and never misses a beat."
