Jean, Nevada — The start of May saw the third race of the BITD season take place just outside Las Vegas, Nevada. At 300 miles, the Canidae Tap It Silver State 300 is a relatively short race compared to the first two BITD events, The Parker 425 and The Mint 400. The Silver State 300 runs through some beautiful areas of the Nevada desert and is considered one of the most scenic races of the season. Unfortunately, fast graded roads, silt and dust don’t let the drivers pause to take in the view.
The lack of passing zones in this race makes qualifying crucial. Time trials for starting positions were held on the Thursday before the event, just east of the Jean casino complex. Drivers pushed hard to get a front starting position with Jason Voss claiming the top spot. Two class 1500 buggies hung with the trucks and earned top ten starting spots. The Albins AGB equipped cars of Cody Parkhouse and Lalo Laguna qualified 7th and 8th respectively. After two laps, less than a second separated these two drivers.
On race day, top qualifier Jason Voss led from start to finish. Rob MacCacharen wan’t far off the pace finishing 2nd in Trick Truck and overall. In Class 1500, the day belonged to CJ Hutchins in Albins AGB equipped car 1527. CJ charged up from his 18th place starting position to grab 1st place in class 1500 and 3rd overall. Cody Parkhouse in Albins AGB equipped car 1532 had a strong run but had to settle for 2nd in Class 1500 and 4th overall, less than a minute behind CJ.

Overall in Class 1500, Albins AGBs had a phenomenal day, snagging four out of the top five spots. Lalo Laguna placed 4th and 1599 Todd Tuls took 5th. Three more AGB equipped cars battled their way into the Class 1500 top 10. 1562 Ladd Gilbert took 6th. 1542 Baldi Brothers Racing gunned their way up from their 31st starting position to take 7th and 1529 Scott Bailey taking 8th. Albins AGB equipped cars took seven of the top ten Class 1500 positions.
In Class 7200, products from Weddle Industries continued their winning ways with Gary and Troy Messer taking the win followed by Kovach Motorsports in 2nd. The Messer truck runs a PBS transaxle with Weddle gears and ring and pinion. The Kovach Motorsports truck runs an Albins ST6-i transmission from Weddle Industries. These two teams have won every BITD race this season and are locked in a serious points battle.
