Goleta, California — It had been ten months since Chris and I had gone racing. We decided it was time to dust off the 1600 car and drag it out of hibernation. The plan was to enter the first three M.O.R.E. races of the season, starting with the Season Opener. Big thanks to Jim and the crew at M.O.R.E. for jumping over many hurdles to make this race a reality. All of the new race day rules are aimed at keeping everyone safe, and they seemed work well. Other than making the pit areas a boring place to spectate, the rules did not seem to affect the quality of the racing. We had a great weekend and got our first solid finish, a 5th place, only 2 minutes out of 4th. Our only issues during the race were a slow drivers change and a broken front trans mount a couple miles from the finish. A huge thanks goes out to all our friends and family that came out to help; we couldn't do it with out you, and it wouldn't be nearly as fun if you weren't all there. Special thanks to John at JFK Racecars for a great prep job, Kenny and Andy at Majors Motors for a strong, reliable engine, and all the guys at the shop for taking care of business while Chris and I were getting ready to go racing. The next race will be the M.O.R.E. Balls Out 250, March 19; hopefully we'll see you out there! —Ron
